What an afternoon it was! It was one of those perfect ones. Lisa and I met in Monterey but ended up in Asilomar for sunset. The only bad thing was the wind. It was blowing in at 20 to 30 mph making it feel about 10 degrees colder than the actual temperature. Yes, a wind chill.

It was also a cold day here. Cold for California anyway. Lisa and I each had four layers of clothes and coats on. We sat outside on the beach for an hour or maybe two. The one thing I noticed was no matter how the wind and waves came ashore the rocks never moved. They were the one immovable thing in all the tumultuous sea.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer: my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge…” Psalms 18:2 That is what Psalms tells us many times over. And that is what I believe. God is just as certain as the rock standing against the ocean.

That’s what the story of the wise man and the foolish man also tells us. The foolish man built his house upon the sand. The rains came (or maybe waves) and his house went splat! But the wise man built his house on the rock. When the rains (or waves) came, his house stood firm against it all.

As simple as that story is, it is for each one of us. God is your immovable Rock. If you build your foundation on Him, you will not be moved. Otherwise, if you build your foundation on anything else, you will go splat! Let God into your heart and make Him the most important thing in your life. God is waiting for you…

It was lucky that i had my neckerchief for the snow in the trunk of my car!!
