The easiest thing to take for lunch at work is a sandwich. And so Instarted doing just that. I know there are lots of other things out there to pack for lunches but sometimes you take the easy way out.

I would buy lunchmeat and cheese to put on the sandwich. I am also a mayo person. I know some people were raised on butter on sandwiches and probably other things too. But as a kid I used to eat Miracle Whip sandwiches. Yes, just Miracle Whip on bread. So I grew up with mayo.

After doing this for a number of months, it seemed like I was always out of mayo or at least always running out. And then one day I got to thinking about why my jar always seemed empty. Maybe that makes a case against my sanity but anyhow that’s what I was thinking about.

I think I finally figured it out. The only time I notice the mayo jar is when I first open it and when it’s almost empty. The two times I have to do something with it. There is a lot that happens in between but I don’t seem to notice.

And that is just like life. We notice beginnings and endings but maybe not much in the middle. There’s a lot of life that happens in the middles. Let’s be sure we can notice all of that too and not glide through life on autopilot. So live life day by day. And remember the whole journey.

Let’s live each moment for God and remember what He has done for us.
