Today was “Black Friday”. The busiest shopping day of the year. Sometimes I have searched the newspaper ads looking to see what was on sale and if there was anything I could get my kids for Christmas. Now, while there are some hardier souls than me, I have never been desperate enough to camp out and wait for the store to open in the morning. I have seen the lines and the people waiting for the items to go on sale. I have even been in a few of those lines. Not anymore. And with the advent of online shopping, the lines are still there. Stores are thinking up new ways to attract shoppers. But do you really need that item? What would happen if you didn’t get it?
You imagine all sorts of bad scenarios. Disappointment on Christmas for the kids or maybe some other major tragedy. The world won’t really end, though, if you don’t get that special toy. What it should do is make us all stop and ponder.
Isn’t that what God wants us to do? He wants us to put all our trust in Him. Put all our energies to use getting to heaven and being with Jesus. Just like trying to get the perfect present, we should concentrate on what God wants us to do. Make Him and heaven your first priority. What do you need to change? Just ask Him. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Then step out in faith and do it. See you in heaven!
So true!
