Life of Bread

It seems like every country or, at least, every culture has it’s own bread and coffee. I can’t say for sure but it’s just something I have noticed. As Americans, we come from many different places and bring many different cultures. And so we have many different breads.

Sometimes you want to do something out of the ordinary just because it makes life more fun. I am no different. Yesterday, I wanted to make some bread. I remembered seeing recipes for bread made without yeast. I easily found a recipe online. I thought it was going to be more difficult. As it turns out, it was so simple. I checked and had all the ingredients. Mix the dry ingredients together. Mix the wet ingredients together. Then, yes, mix the wet into the dry. Almost too simple. There isn’t any kneading either. It makes a thick dough and pour it into your greased pan. Then put it in the oven. I set a timer because you cover it with foil halfway through the bake. Maybe the hardest part is waiting for it to cool so you can slice it and eat some. Yummy!

Jesus said He was the Bread of Life. I usually eat some form of bread once or twice a day. And maybe bread is a reminder to us of where our life comes from. Maybe it’s a reminder we are dependent upon Jesus for our life and for our bread and food. Maybe we should take the time to thank Him for all He does for us. It’s almost too simple. Just come to Jesus and let Him in your heart. That’s it. That’s all it takes. And remember as we get life from bread, Jesus is our Bread of Life.
